Word Jars

This would be a fabulous idea in the classroom! At the beginning of the year (and on-going) you could have students contribute a bunch words cut out of magazines. Throughout the year you could randomly select a word from the jar as part of a journal prompt.

SAT Word of the Day: Nocturnal

Nocturnal: (adj) relating to something that occurs at night

Synonyms: night, nighttime

Antonyms: day, diurnal

Sentence: Legends about vampires claim the immortal beings are nocturnal.
